The Orchestrion Project è stato filmato dai registi Pierre e François Lamoureux vincitori di Grammy e di Emmy. Presenta Metheny alla chitarra che esegue The Orchestrion Suite così come altre tracce provenienti da tutta la sua lunga carriera. Basato sulla sua fascinazione d'infanzia per il nonno pianista, il 19 volte vincitore del Grammy Award Pat Metheny, ha commissionato e costruito l'Orchestrion, un insieme di strumenti acustici appositamente progettati, tutti controllati dalla chitarra di Metheny.
La gamma completa comprende diversi pianoforti, drum kit, marimbe, "guitar-bots", decine di strumenti a percussione ed anche armadi di bottiglie accuratamente sintonizzate.
Questo innovativo progetto ha portato ad un approccio completamente unico alle performance per solo.
